Evolution Challenge Success Story: Donald B

I view the challenge as a continuation and amelioration of my success since joining Snap almost six years ago. Never having been into fitness and having had a weight problem for years (was just over 400 pounds when I graduated from college 50 years ago), I was a bit reticent when my primary doctor told/suggested/ordered me to join a gym back in 2014. Shortly before that I had gone in for my annual physical and then sent off for everyone's "favorite" procedure, a colonoscopy. When I was fully awake, my GI told me he had not been able to complete the exam as there was a serious blockage caused by some sort of growth. Two weeks later, on Halloween, I underwent surgery to remove a 10 pound non-cancerous growth leaving me with a temporary colonoscopy and a diagnosis of Crohn's disease. Well, the temporary became permanent and six major operations later I find myself and active member of SNAP and enjoying every moment. Luckily I have had the experience of working with excellent trainers who were/are able to teach me how to adapt an exercise to accommodate some of the challenges(not impediments or obstacles) with the colostomy. I may not be able to do a perfect burpee or Swiss ball pike, but I do the best that I can with a maximum effort and love every minute of it. It is still astonishing to me that five plus years ago I entered almost fearful and now have to convince myself to take a day off. On October 12th, I celebrated my 5 year anniversary of being an ostomate and my 71st birthday. Was there cake and ice cream? Yes, but more importantly I did a 5K for Ostomy Awareness Day, a Zumba class, a Yoga class, and a trial run through of Week 6's challenge and loved every minute!
